Make a Cardigan With Scalloped Front Details

Plain cardigans are nice, but they’re easy to forget about.
This one has soft scalloped trim down the front that makes it feel a little special every time you put it on.

     

It’s worked in one piece from the top down, so there are no pieces to sew together at the end.
You can check the body and sleeve length as you go and stop when it looks right on you.

• Scallops go on last. The crochet trim is added once the cardigan is finished, so you see the shape first. Want a simpler look? You can leave it off.
• Choose your sleeve. Go with a straight sleeve for a bit more volume, or a tapered sleeve that slims down toward the wrist.
• Button band built in. It’s worked at the same time as the body, so there’s no separate band to pick up and fuss over at the end.

• Fingering weight yarn held together with a lace weight mohair and silk yarn, or a single DK weight yarn
• 4.5 mm (US 7), 3.5 mm (US 4) and 5 mm (US 8) circular needles
• 3.5 mm crochet hook
• Stitch markers
• Tapestry needle
• 7 to 9 buttons (15 mm)
