What is inside the pattern?

An 8-page English PDF with written instructions for six sizes, neckline shaping, raglan increases, body and both sleeve options. Includes a materials list, gauge, measurements and abbreviations.

Is this the right level for me?

Intermediate. You will work in the round, German short rows, M1R/M1L increases, SSK/K2tog decreases, pick up sleeve stitches and finish with an Italian bind-off after double-knitting setup rounds. Best suited to a knitter comfortable with shaping and reading size-specific instructions.

What materials will I need?

Hold DK and fingering yarn together. Suggested yarns: Cascade Eco Merino DK, 100 g / 254 yd, 5 / 5 / 5 / 6 / 6 / 6 skeins; plus Cascade 220 Fingering, 50 g / 273 yd, 4 / 5 / 5 / 5 / 5 / 6 skeins for sizes 1–6.

Needles: 3.75 mm / US 5 with 50 cm cable for collar; 5 mm / US 8 with 80 cm cable for body and sleeves; 4.5 mm / US 7 with 80 cm cable for ribbing, using magic loop at cuffs. Adjust needle size to match gauge.

Tapestry needle, measuring tape, one distinctive beginning-of-round marker, four raglan markers, removable markers and spare cable or waste yarn for resting sleeve stitches.

Sizing and fit

Finished chest circumference, sizes 1–6: 125 / 135 / 142.5 / 154 / 160 / 170 cm.

Choose a finished chest 20–45 cm larger than your own chest for the intended oversized fit. These are garment measurements, not body sizes.

Base of collar to hem: 55 / 57.5 / 60 / 62.5 / 62.5 / 62.5 cm. Sleeve length from underarm: 30 cm for bracelet sleeves or 35 cm for full-length sleeves.

The fit comes first

Oversized, with a shape you can plan.

Roomy should be a choice, not a surprise after weeks of knitting. This pattern gives you finished chest measurements for all six sizes and recommends 20–45 cm of positive ease.

Compare those measurements with your own chest—or a sweater you already love—before choosing your size. German short rows shape the neck, with extra rows across the back before the sleeves are separated.

Know the project before you choose your yarn.

Eight pages of written instructions, from the collar to the final bind-off.

Six sizes. One considered silhouette.

Size-specific stitch counts guide the raglan increases, sleeve separation and body. The generous shape is finished with a deep collar, ribbed hem and cuffs.

Two sleeve directions included.

Choose a wider bracelet-length sleeve or a tapered full-length sleeve. Each version has its own decrease instructions and ribbed finish.

The details that shape the result.

Materials, gauge, measurements and abbreviations are included alongside the written pattern. German short rows and an Italian bind-off are part of the project.

A choice you will actually wear

How do you like your sleeves?

The bracelet version finishes around 30 cm from the underarm with a wider cuff. The full-length option tapers towards the wrist and measures around 35 cm.

Both are worked down from the held sleeve stitches. Decide which finish suits the way you wear your sweaters; the PDF covers both, so you do not need a second pattern.

Choose your ease, then choose your size.

These are finished garment measurements. For the intended fit, choose a chest circumference 20–45 cm larger than your own. For example, a 100 cm chest with size 1 gives 25 cm of ease.

Plan the pairing

Two strands. A marl that is yours.

A strand of DK and a strand of fingering yarn are held together through the main fabric. Similar shades give a quieter marl; a greater contrast makes the two strands more visible.

The cast-on and final ribbing/bind-off details use the heavier main yarn alone. Swatch the combination you plan to use: another pairing can change the fabric and the amount of yarn you need.

Your yarn basket, planned before you begin.

Quantities follow sizes 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 and use the suggested yarns. Needle sizes are starting points; match the gauge.

DK + fingering, held together

Cascade Eco Merino DK: 100 g / 254 yd; 5 / 5 / 5 / 6 / 6 / 6 skeins.

Cascade 220 Fingering: 50 g / 273 yd; 4 / 5 / 5 / 5 / 5 / 6 skeins.

Needles & notions

3.75 mm / US 5, 50 cm circular for collar; 5 mm / US 8, 80 cm circular for body and sleeves; 4.5 mm / US 7, 80 cm circular for ribbing and magic-loop cuffs.

Tapestry needle, measuring tape, markers and spare cable or waste yarn for the sleeves.

Check the fabric first

17 stitches × 24 rows = 10 × 10 cm in stockinette with both yarns held together.

Use 5 mm needles or adjust to match this gauge before choosing your size and beginning the sweater.

Ask us a question
Is this suitable for a first sweater?

Intermediate. You will work in the round, German short rows, M1R/M1L increases, SSK/K2tog decreases, pick up sleeve stitches and finish with an Italian bind-off after double-knitting setup rounds. Best suited to a knitter comfortable with shaping and reading size-specific instructions.

Is the sweater knitted in separate pieces?

It is worked from the collar down in the round, with short rows for neckline shaping. Hold the sleeve stitches while you work the body, then return to each sleeve. You will weave in ends and close any small gaps at the underarms.

Can I adjust the sleeve length?

Yes. The sleeve instructions explain how to continue without further decreases until the sleeve is 7.5 cm shorter than your desired length, before working the ribbing. Changes in length can affect yarn use.

Can I use another yarn combination?

Yes, provided your pairing produces the required gauge and a fabric you like. The PDF notes that other yarns may need more or less yardage. Compare yarn specifications and swatch with both strands held together.
